Dressing Facts up as Fiction
What I Do
I seek those overlooked details in history, anthropology and science
(the ones that have a vast impact on the world)
I then weave them into engaging narratives
My novels are often compared to Wilbur Smith. This review from Amazon disagrees:

A Revolution Governed by Rules, Not by Ru
Bitcoin & Crypto offer life-changing opportunities to some—and ruin to others.
The difference between becoming a hero or going to zero is how well you arm yourself with KNOWLEDGE before leaping in.
Success in this territory takes insight. But acquiring knowledge through trial, error, and chasing hot tips can be eye-wateringly expensive.
Like an onion, you’ll encounter layer upon layer of unfolding complexity—details you’ll “wish you’d known before finding out the expensive way.”
The message is: The more you understand, the faster you’ll accumulate profit and avoid costly tears. Learning through experience is the worst mistake you can make.
Fortunately, you don’t have to. Those bills are already paid—this book is the resulting shortcut directly to the nuggets.
IN CODE WE TRUST is a page-turner that reads like a treasure hunt. It could be the most lucrative investment you’ll ever make to exploiting the Bull markets and surviving the Bears.
Sequel to Ragnarok (and LifeGames Corporation)
A decade since a secret NASA experiment went wrong and two commercial airliners and several ships winked from the radar near Newfoundland.
Weeks later, one of those Boeings reappeared and crash landed onto the Hudson river.
But steadily, over the months that followed, all details of the disappearance event evaporated out of the media and archives, and the public's collective memory steadily began to falter too.
Actively suppressed and eliminated by the authorities using LIfeGames Corporation's mind manipulation technologies—all that people now recall was the miracle of the plane's crash landing, but nothing of the weeks of its absence... those who do recall are labeled as conspiracy nuts.
Now, one important man—the pilot of that plane—is starting to remember where they went and why everyone has been forgetting.

Opinions
“
Any book that makes me question my own beliefs and challenges my thinking, is a book worth reading... (Smorenburg gets)an Authentic 5 out of 5.
NTHATO MORAKABI, LITERARY CRITIC
“
Smorenburg's books are much more than novels - through collisions of old vs new, traditional vs modernity, he explores the very essence of human nature.
ANDREW CHRISTIE, BOOK CRITIC
“
James Patterson, Stephen King, John Grisham... If I transposed one of those names over Smorenburgs, you honestly could not tell the difference.

BIO
I was born in 1964 in Cape Town, South Africa.
A serial entrepreneur with a passion for marketing, in 1995 I moved to California where I founded a business consultancy and online media and marketing engine.
Returned to SA in 2003.
I have an insatiable interest in the ocean, conservation, keeping up with the latest breakthroughs in science, understanding the cosmos, and tracking the fast changing facets of culture.
I'm intrigued by the old guard clinging to tradition, and the neurology that explains it.
