Watch: The Weeknd's remix featuring Eminem got a 'virtual reality' video

“The Hills” is the name of Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd’s smash No. 1 hit and, on its own, you wouldn’t believe that it needs a remix. If there was an instance of The Weeknd “going full Weeknd,” it’s “The Hills.” The record’s beat features a foreboding, distorted “Inception” sound, and its comically bleak lyrics about a drug-fueled, dispassionate sexual affair is about as Weeknd-y as it gets.

But if there is anything that this world always delivers, it’s things that we don’t need, and the world came through again with “The Hills” remix featuring Eminem.

We’ll say it again: Eminem. There are a few artists who fit in with The Weeknd’s bizarre, woozy and apathetic music, but Eminem doesn’t fit the mold, as talented as he is. The rapper jumps on the song with two signature verses that fall within the song’s themes and topics and it’s instantly revealed why the two artists don’t quite work. Where Tesfaye is disinterested, Eminem is a bundle of razor sharp, agitated energy.

The one cool thing that we get from this odd coupling is a new video for the remix that comes in a “virtual reality” package where you can move the camera around. The clip shows The Weeknd leaving a gig where he’s met with an overturned car engulfed in flames
